this is my final project. I was going to do my project on culture but it didn't end up working out so i shot water. I shot at my house, the salt palace, temple square, and lots of other places down town. I was really stressed out while i was shooting because i was worried about time, but i feel like this assignment has some of my best images all term. I have definitely learned that not getting behind is a HUGE deal, its hard to shoot good images when you're just stressed out about getting the assignment done. I was stressed when i started shooting, but after a little while i just got into it and was able to get some good images. While i was shooting i paid a lot of attention to light. I also learned the simple images are better. My images that were really busy, were not nearly as good as the simple ones.

welllll... me and stephi were just talking and i had a brilliant idea. Well i don't know if it will appear brilliant to you but i'm really excited about it. I love learning about different cultures and so I think i'm going to shoot that. I'm going to shoot stephi and whitney because they are greak and show the diversity of cultures. I'm going to also shoot Lisa since she is armanian and try to capture her cultural backround through the images. And then Johanna since she is guatamalan. And these russian people that stephi is going to introduce me to so it will be interesting figuring out how to shoot subjects that i don't really know. And then possibly a ginger like anne marie or someone is just culturally just pure american like Laura lee. I want to show the cutural diversity in utah, and i'm really excited about this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My project!!
I don't know what to do for my final project!!!! ahhh help. I'm thinking rather than shooting specific objects I would rather tell a story through my images. The documentary's we watched in class really inspired me, although I wouldn't be able to do a story that intense I want to figure out something interesting in the world that affects many people and shoot it! I just have to figure out what that will be!!!!!!!!

The last image I posted on my blog was also by Ansel Adams. I have been looking at alot of his images lately and his are some of my favorite work. I like his landscape images better than his portraits but I still think his portraits are really interesting and they capture the emotion of the subject really well. I was reading about this image and it said that he shot many of his portraits at Manzanar war relocation center. This was during World War II and he spent his own time and money visiting the relocation center capturing the emotions of the people there.
I didn't have time to write about my light assignment when i uploaded it so that's what i'm going to do now. Blogging is just soo fun! My light assignment was one of the few this term that I took a sufficiant amount of images in order to have more of a variety to chose from in my edit. I shot everything that was interesting to me a million different ways and all the images were very different. I still feel like my images have TONS of room for improvement. I'm indecisive about my favorite images in this assigment. But i really like the one by the pond with the soft light on the rock. The image is mainly dark and then the rock has interesting light on it, which kind of pulls me in. The one of the hand is kind of wierd but unique. I shot at different times in the day and saw how light affected my images. I shot this last weekend so on saturday i shot more towards the morning and on sunday later in the afternoon. Completely different parts of my house had good lighting at the different times.

For my emotions assignment I shot joy. I thought about shooting a sad emotion like depression, because I thought it would make more powerful images. I decided to branch out and do something different. Although I don't feel like my images are extremely powerful I feel like I captured my emotion. I tried shooting posed images and they weren't nearly as effective as my candid ones. I had some really great ideas before I shot this but I feel like they didn't come across in my images. I'm very behind as Mr. Slade knows so I was really pressured to get this done. I wish I would of taken some more time before I started to think about the best way to portray my emotion. I had better ideas than I actually showed in my images.

This assignment was interesting. When i would move the subject from light to shade i would get a completely different image. I should have shot a lot more so i would of had more images to choose from. My white on white images were stronger than my black on black images but it is mainly because i only shot about 12 black on blacks. i don't feel like any of my images are particularly strong, but i think my most interesting shot is the first one because it is simple but interesting. I learned that in order to get good images I need to shoot a lot more so i have more to choose from.

assignment one- numbers
This assignment was really difficult to get started on but once i started i began to get more ideas. It took me about two hours to get fifty images. I liked the idea of using the periodic table because it was original. I learned that pictures like speed limit signs are slightly boring because everyone shoots them. While I was editing my images i learned that simpler is better and more effective at getting the point across. My favorite image is the one of the number eight. It was hard to edit these because the images that I liked, Mr. Slade thought were to busy and distracting.
